Boston’s best interactive field trip was a BLAST!
Grey skies couldn’t stop approximately 800 Boston Public School students from grades 3-5 from gathering on Boston Common for the Friends of the Public Garden’s annual Making History on the Common! We were thrilled to welcome new partner Embrace Boston to this immersive, interactive outdoor day of learning and play. Nothing could dampen the kid’s enthusiasm for Contra Dancing, marching with the 54th Massachusetts Regiment, learning past and present history from members of the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag, Colonial punishments, the pillory, Colonial games, architecture, memorializing loved ones, and funny, friendly goats just to mention a few of the activities enjoyed during the day.
Many thanks to our teachers, educators, and program partners who make this day possible. View a full list of program partners and activities here.
