Thank you for joining us for a live “virtual” Duckling Day on Facebook! Duckling Day celebrates mothers everywhere! Inspired by the tenacity of Mrs. Mallard from the famous Make Way For Ducklings, the official children’s book of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, we hope all will enjoy a signature virtual reading, now available on YouTube. We have assembled an all-star cast to share this timeless story, including:
– First Lady Lauren Baker
– Senator Elizabeth Warren
– Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series
– WCVB’s Rhondella Richardson
– Human helpers sharing the story with furry and feathered friends at the Franklin Park Zoo and the NEAQ
Following the reading, the program continued with engaging and delightful entertainment for the entire family. Karen K and the Jitterbugs performed their hit song “Get Down” with some special Duckling Day themed words, and Bonaparte the Magician performed some duckling magic!
Want to create some fun Duckling crafts at home? You’ll need card stock or printing paper, scissors, tape or glue. Print the images and instructions below to make a fun Duckling Hat or Duckling Finger Puppet! Thank you so much to Melissa Krygowski and her family who bring joy and creativity to Duckling Day each year.
Color in the iconic “Make Way For Ducklings Statue” right at home. Thank you to the Mayor’s Mural Crew for creating the fun coloring pages.
