The Boston Parks and Recreation Department is continuing to develop a Master Plan for Boston Common in collaboration with the Friends of the Public Garden and design consultants, Weston & Sampson. The partnership is collaborating on creating a vision for the Common that will serve the people of Boston and visitors alike while protecting this special greenspace.
The Master Plan team has been hard at work advancing this project during this challenging and uncertain time. The latest developments include:
• Project goals and objectives
• Recommendation maps and lists based on outreach, inventory, and analysis.
• Park-wide design strategies to address entrances, circulation, seating, vending, tree canopy, and lawn care.
• Concept design sketches of areas of importance, like the Park Street Station area and Frog Pond.
Additionally, the team has begun to plan for Public Meeting #3, focusing on creating a safe format that allows for continued collection of valuable public insight.
Thank you for your continued input and participation in the Master Planning as we work to envision a Common for all. See a list of the project goals below.
