Dear Friends,

As we respond to this evolving COVID-19/Coronavirus situation, concern for the health of park visitors, supporters, and staff is our top priority. Following the many recommendations to limit the spread of the virus, and in the spirit of care for our community, we are postponing the Annual Meeting scheduled for April 2, 2020. The Annual Meeting will be combined with our Members Reception on October 27, 2020, and we look forward to seeing you there. We will be hosting a virtual version of our annual Duckling Day celebration.

We are also delaying the scheduled openings of Brewer Fountain Plaza and seasonal bathrooms on Boston Common until further notice. We continue to follow the guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and City and state public health officials and will share updates with you about the downtown parks as appropriate.

Know that our parks remain free and open to all. We know that nature can be a welcome refuge during times of stress and uncertainty. It is critical, however, that each of us follows the protocols instituted by the CDC and local authorities, and that we commit to do all we can to prevent transmission of this virus. Please be sure to practice proper hygiene and social distancing as you navigate our treasured public spaces. There are countless special spots – under a tree, on a lawn, near a statue – across the 83 acres of the downtown parks where we can find peace and safely be “alone together.” Thank you for your understanding as we navigate this challenging time.

Thank you,

Elizabeth Vizza
Executive Director
