The Young Friends gathered Thursday, February 21 to celebrate their February Social at Abby Lane. Attendees enjoyed drinks and handcrafted bistro fare while supporting Boston’s historic greenspaces: Boston Common, Boston Public Garden, and Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
Executive Director Liz Vizza spoke about the Shaw 54th Regiment Memorial Restoration project and shared plans for a year-long program to educate and engage the public about the importance of the monument and plans to use the restoration as a platform for dialogue about race, freedom, and justice. Rachel Hangley, Development Associate, and Katie Kages, Young Friends Committee Member, shared details of upcoming Friends events, and ways to become more involved with the organization.
