Edward Everett Hale Memorial
Boston Public Garden
Charles St. Mid-block Gate

You’re invited to come “meet” famed Bostonian Edward Everett Hale, and hear his words spoken at his memorial in the Garden!

Friends of the Public Garden and the Lend a Hand Society are joining together to celebrate the restoration of the terrace of the Hale memorial statue by the Friends, and the 125th anniversary of the charitable organization, the Lend a Hand Society, founded by Hale.

Meet Edward Everett Hale, author, minister, social and environmental activist, and learn about his advocacy in his own words. As his statue states, he was a man of letters, preacher of the gospel, and prophet of peace. The Friends will share the history of the memorial, and why his statue came to reside in the Public Garden. Hale’s activism and lasting legacy are alive today in the generosity of the Lend a Hand Society.
