It does take a village sometimes!

A huge thank you to Jean-Luc Teixeira, Superintendent of Asset Management for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC) and his team, Maggie Vanscoy of the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services, volunteer Tim Mitchell, consulting arborist Norm Helie, and Margaret Pokorny, Bob Mulcahy and Eric DiTomasso from the Friends. They all worked together to ensure that the BWSC overnight crew could paint all 29 fire hydrants on the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, from Arlington Street to Raleigh Street.

The BWSC team was also able to access a connecting pipe and clear a blockage that was causing a chronic drainage problem in the catch basin on the A/B block of the Mall. This will allow the Friends to plant two new trees on that block this spring without worry of flood.

Thank you to the unsung heroes who worked to make this happen and who every day fix this kind of problem throughout the city.
