The Boston Water & Sewer Commission has just shared an updated project scope and anticipated impacts of the ongoing Boston Common Water Main Rehabilitation Project.
The four exits (Spruce St, Walnut St, Joy St, Shaw 54th) along Beacon Street Mall will remain closed for the duration of the project. The project aims to repair and rehabilitate a critical drinking water transmission main underneath Boston Common, which was installed in 1960 and needs repair.
The anticipated completion date of the project is April 2025. BWSC has ensured that all impacted areas of pavement and landscaping will be restored to pre-construction conditions once the project is complete.
In case of emergency, please contact BWSC’s 24/7 hotline at 617-989-7000. For other maintenance concerns, we recommend using the Boston 311 app to file a report directly with the City of Boston.
